El PRI respaldará solo ‘dos o tres’ reformas de AMLO, afirma Rubén Moreira
Rubén Moreira, the coordinator of the deputies of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), affirms that out of all the proposals presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, they would only support “two or three,” as they will be the ones that truly benefit the people.
In an interview with Mario Maldonado for the morning news program on Heraldo TV, the coordinator of the PRI parliamentary group highlighted that with these constitutional reforms, the intention is to divert the population’s attention from important issues, such as the upcoming elections.
Moreira emphasized that the PRI will carefully evaluate each proposal and only support those that serve the people’s interests. He stated, “We would support two or three, the ones that serve the people. Several of them address topics that will not progress.”
The PRI coordinator’s remarks come in response to the numerous proposals put forward by President López Obrador, ranging from changes to the Constitution to reforms in various sectors such as energy, education, and justice. The president has argued that these reforms are necessary to address the country’s problems and achieve his vision of a more equitable society.
However, Moreira expressed skepticism about the viability of some of these proposals and their potential impact on the population. He believes that many of them are merely distractions from more pressing issues, such as the upcoming elections, and are unlikely to be implemented.
The PRI, as one of the main opposition parties in Mexico, plays a crucial role in shaping the legislative agenda and determining the success of the president’s proposals. Moreira’s statement indicates that the party will carefully evaluate each proposal and make independent decisions based on their potential benefits for the people.
As political tensions rise in the lead-up to the elections, the PRI’s position on the president’s proposals will have significant implications for the country’s political landscape. The party’s support or rejection of these reforms could shape public opinion and influence voters’ choices in the upcoming elections.
It remains to be seen which specific proposals the PRI will ultimately support, but Moreira’s statement makes it clear that the party’s priority is to ensure that any reforms genuinely benefit the Mexican people.
