Planteamiento de prioridades de Sheinbaum para legisladores de la 4T en México

Claudia Sheinbaum, virtual president-elect, has outlined her priorities for the upcoming sessions of the Congress of the Union, which will begin on September 1st.

During a meeting with elected legislators from the Fourth Transformation movement at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, Sheinbaum listed two new social programs: Support for women aged 60 to 64, scholarships for public basic education students, reform of the Law of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) and their pensions, non-reelection, and the Reform of the Judiciary, which she did not mention in this meeting; and a new option.

In the June 2nd election, Morena and its allies achieved the qualified majority in the Chamber of Deputies, that is, the two-thirds majority that allows for changes to the Constitution. While in the Senate, they reached 82 representatives, very close to the qualified majority.

Sheinbaum stressed the historical responsibility of the legislators, urging them to demonstrate unity and austerity.

“We must continue to be an example, all of us, of austerity, power is humility and our mandate, as public servants, is to serve the people of Mexico, let us never forget that,” affirmed Sheinbaum.

Accompanied by National Leader of Morena, Mario Delgado, Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of the legislators’ role in advancing the Fourth Transformation for the benefit of the Mexican people.

Karen Castrejón and Alberto Anaya, leaders of the Green Party and the Labor Party respectively, as well as Marcelo Ebrard, Ricardo Monreal, Adán Augusto López, and Gerardo Fernández Noroña were also present at the meeting.

The upcoming legislative sessions are set to be crucial for the implementation of Sheinbaum’s proposed agenda, which aims to address important social issues and continue the transformative path set out by the Fourth Transformation movement.
